MU Notes: Following Eucharist at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 9th March is the Branch meeting in the Vestry Hall with speaker Elizabeth Pullen on Social Policy.  All are welcome.

 

YAK will go Deeper Tuesday 9th March on the theme ‘Easter - Why?’, 7.30-8.30 pm at St Philip & James Church Hall.  Please contact Mike Gibbons on 624408 for further details.

The next Men’s Breakfast is at the Church on the Heath, 7.30-9.00 am on Saturday 13th March, when Roy Woodhams will give his Sabbatical Reflections on church building use.  If you plan to go, please advise Carolyn in the Parish Office for catering purposes. 

Our Social Evening takes place on Saturday 13th March at 7.00-10.00 pm in the Vestry Hall.  Do come along for an evening of games and family fun.  Admission is free. 

Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday.  Posies will be made in the Vestry Hall from 9.30 am on Saturday 13th March.  All are welcome to help, and any greenery you can provide will be gratefully accepted.

Also, next Sunday Marguerite will hold a mini-market in the Vestry Hall after the 10.00 am Eucharist in aid of MU charities and Christ Church Community Project.

A Job Squad and Church Big Clean will take place on Saturday 20th March from 9.30 am.  If you can spare some time to help make the church and churchyard look their best for Easter, please come along.  The main focus of the Job Squad will be the iron railings at the front of the churchyard along Gally Hill Road.

Illustrated Talk: Empress Eugenie and Farnborough Hill – Peter and Diana White will present this talk on Thursday 11th March, 7.30 pm in the Vestry Hall (£2.00 on the door).

Illustrated Astronomy Talk: The Solar System – Maurice Kent’s first of four talks will  take place on Thursday 18th March, 2.00 pm in the Vestry Hall.  Tickets are £3.00 per talk or buy all four for just £10.00.

A Little Light Music on 27th February raised £300 for CCCP.  Thanks to all involved.

 Our 2010 APCM takes place on Sunday 18th April.  Thanks to all who have sent in reports for 2009.  If you still have a report to submit, please call the Parish Office. 

The Electoral Roll will be revised in the period 25th March - 1st April.  If you wish to join the Roll or amend your entry, please complete an application form (in the folder on the notice board) and return to Caroline Thomas.   Please see March’s magazine for details.

 Palm Sunday is on 28th March.  Singers from Christ Church are invited to join a choir to lead a Service of Music and Readings for Holy Week in St Philip & James Church on that date.  If interested, please advise Carolyn as soon as possible.  Music and rehearsal dates will be provided for those who commit to attend. 

 Confirmation: A Deanery Confirmation service takes place in St Philip & James Church on 29th April.  All interested in preparing for confirmation should speak to Mark or Donna.
