First, if you have come to this page because a loved one has recently died, we extend to you our sincere sympathy. If you would like us to include the name of your loved one in our Sunday prayers, please let us know and we will willingly do this.

We regularly conduct the funerals of people who have lived in the parish, and value the opportunity to work with that person’s family or friends in arranging a service which appropriately reflects their life and beliefs. Funerals can be conducted either in church, or at one of the local crematoria, or entirely at the grave-side.

The first step in arranging a funeral is to contact a funeral director of your choice (there are several local firms), who will liaise with us over date, time, and other practical arrangements.

Christ Church has its own churchyard for burials, but this is now full, apart from a very few grave spaces which have already been reserved by families. There is, however, space for the burial of ashes (normally not in a casket) in our churchyard. For the burial of a coffin, people normally go to Fleet cemetery, or a cemetery further afield, according to the family’s wishes. We can conduct a funeral or committal ceremony at any of these places of burial.

  1. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
  2. He makes me lie down in green pastures,
    he leads me beside quiet waters,
  3. He restores my soul.
    He guides me in paths of righteousness for his names' sake.
  4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff they comfort me.
  5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
    You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
  6. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
    and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23
