We always enjoy conducting weddings in church, and seeing a couple begin the lifelong journey of marriage in companionship with God.
Apart from being a great occasion, we also need to ensure that certain legal criteria are met – in other words, that you do actually end up legally married as a result of the ceremony! Normally, we can only legally marry a couple if at least one of them, or their parent or grandparent, has a `Qualifying Connection’ with this church or the parish of Crookham, either by residence within the parish or by being a regular worshipper here.
Also, if either or both of you are foreign nationals, there may be special procedures to ensure that you are legally married according to the laws of your country of origin.
More details of these matters, including what constitutes a Qualifying Connection, can be found on the Church of England website by clicking here.
For people who have been previously divorced, we are sometimes (but not always) able to conduct a church wedding. In the first instance, please contact us and we will be able to explain the procedure for such enquiries.
